Author Bio

Brian Kurth, Founder and President of VocationVacations.

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Brian Kurth graduated with degrees in political science, history and international relations from the University of Wisconsin and earned his masters degree in political science from Loyola University. Kurth spent more than a decade in the corporate world working his way up in the telecommunications industry with AT&T and Ameritech (now AT&T) before being laid off in the dot.com bust. He realized then it was time for him to explore his career path and identify what would truly make him happy in his personal and professional life. He began an adventure that would be a life-changing experience for him and, ultimately, for others also in search of career fulfillment.

During his journey, he discovered his dream-job was not any of the jobs he had fantasized. Instead, he realized what he really wanted to do was develop a process that would help people identify their dream-job and provide them the opportunity to experience first-hand what that job was like. With this goal in mind, in 2004 he founded VocationVacations®, a one-of-a-kind company that provides "vocationers" a one-to-three-day hands-on opportunity to "test drive" their dream-job under the tutelage of expert mentors.

A "vocationer" himself, Kurth is a sought-after expert on how to pursue and attain one's dream-job lifestyle (what he calls the "Vocationing Process"). Since launching VocationVacations, he has shared his wit and wisdom in appearances on NBC's TODAY Show, NBC Nightly News, CNN, MSNBC, CBS Marketwatch Weekend, Bloomberg Television and FOX News. Major print media including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, LATimes, Fortune Magazine, More Magazine, BusinessWeek and many more turn to Kurth for his comments, advice and insights.
