John Szarkowski is director emeritus of the Department of Photography, at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Books of his own work are The Idea of Louis Sullivan, The Face of Minnesota, and Mr. Bristolís Barn. He lives in East Chatham, New York and New York City.
