Author Bio
Valerie Wilson Wesley is currently Executive Editor or Essence magazine. Her novel for young adults, Where Do I Go from Here? just recently received an American Library Association "Best Books for Reluctant Readers" citation.
Her fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children have appeared in numerous publications, including Essence, Ms, Creative Classroom, and the New York Times She is the recipient of the Griot Ward from the New York Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. She is a graduate of Howard University and has masters degrees from both the Banks Street College of Education and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. Ms. Wesley is the mother of two college-aged daughters and wife of noted screenwriter and playwright Richard Wesley.
