Critical Praise

This book was one of the best I have read in a long time.  The story was funny, sweet, and very meaningful that will go straight to the heart of any reader.  Witty banter gave a comic relief to the book, but did not deter from the true meaning.  Like I said, I loved the book, and I can't wait to see if there is another in the series.

Ghostgirl is not only a book to be read for enjoyment, but also one that teaches about life from the perspective of a dead girl (ironically enough). Depicting the high school social pyramid accurately, readers can identify with Charlotte closely. Although the book was a little bit slow to start out with, I became more immersed with the story line and even finished it in one sitting! The book had a very relaxed, kind of comical atmosphere even though it dealt with dead people. It’s very interesting and I haven’t read a book like this in a while. Hopefully Tonya Hurley writes more original books like this!

I really liked this story.  Charlotte wanting to be popular even after she’s dead is totally an oxymoron.  I thought it funny that even the nasty girls can be on the Other side.  I couldn’t help but hope Charlotte would succeed in her attempts to become visible to those around her.  And Petula saying, “I see uncool people,” was too funny.
I can’t wait to let my friends read this!  I know they’ll like it too!

ghostgirl puts a witty spin on the classic story of the underdog in the search for popularity.  The subtle humor and sarcasm used in the novel give it a comedic touch, making the overall novel good and sweet.

I LOVED everything about this book. I loved the story, the characters, the size of the book, the illustrations; even the white on black print was unique.  I will definitely recommend ghostgirl to my friends.

ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley  is a sweet story of love and friendship. Hurley weaves a strange story of one outcast’s life, and schooling, after death.  Pumped full of wicked wit and dark humor, ghostgirl is a must for anyone who’s ever felt lost.

ghostgirl is such a terrific book! I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book, but it held my attention from the very beginning and until the last page. There are a few twists and surprises along the way, and you can also relate to the things that the characters go through. ghostgirl is a wonderful read, and I think that others would also really enjoy it!

ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley was a completely morbid, bizarre, yet utterly amazing book. I've never read anything quite like it. I was absolutely sucked in by the original plot and happy ending. This is one book I won't soon forget.
